Beckham, whose immediate future in Milan is still under negotiation, played most of the game after sitting out the last game with calf injury sustained on England duty.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player said believes that “no news may be good news” as he waits to hear if he will be remaining in Italy or returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy on March 9.

Negotiations between the two clubs continue as the Serie A club seek a solution which would allow them to keep hold of the England international when his loan spell expires in a fortnight.

However, Beckham knows it may go down to March 8 before a decision is made.

“There is no news, nothing has changed,” he confirmed. “Things are still going on and sometimes no news may be good news.

“We’ll have to wait and see. These things take time sometimes and of course it’s going to. It could go down to the last few days.

“I hope it gets sorted out quickly because I enjoy concentrating on my football and I’ve done that so far and so I’ll continue doing that.”

He admits leaving would be wrench after such a productive and enjoyable period in Italy.

“I’m happy in Milan and I’ve been happy since I arrived,” he said.

“Everybody has been great and I enjoy playing at the San Siro and the whole club has made me feel so welcome.

“Everybody’s been nice to me and I am enjoying my football and when I am enjoying my football, I am happy.”

Milan have yet to go the extra mile to ensure Beckham remains with them with the Galaxy claiming their offer is not acceptable.

Reports in Italy today claimed Milan were preparing a new bid which would involve loaning Beckham back to the Galaxy at the end of the Italian season and the midfielder revealed that he too would be happy to compromise.

“I’ve said that I want to stay here and I will do whatever I can to stay here because I’ve loved my time so far,” he added.

“It has been an incredible experience playing here. All I can do is remain calm and concentrate on training and carry on enjoying my football.”

However, Beckham is already prepared for the eventuality of returning to the States and insists his role with England would not be compromised as a result.

He said: “I have been at the Galaxy for a year and a half already and I still managed to stay in the England team.”
